We are thrilled to be launching this blog to share with compassion oriented people like you!
GHNI started 10 years ago and we now have volunteers from over 50 countries helping in 34 of some of the most challenging regions of the world. We partner with hundreds of other like-minded organizations, foundations, businesses, churches, schools and community organizations. From the Himalayas to Morocco, from Afghanistan to Darfur, Sudan, hundreds of volunteers give their vacations or longer to help bring meaningful sustainable change to the ones we serve. They work alongside the national volunteeres who are our Champions. My wife, Lana, and I have both come from poor families when we were young. We also were refugees and know what it is like to not know where you will spend the night, keeping our young family safe and dealing with those who would do us harm.
Our vision is to bring Help and Hope to the Hidden and Hurting.
Global Hope Network International is part of a global grassroots movement that is focused on the poorest of the poor who are also hidden from other help due to their language, location or minority status. We have come to realize that most aid does not get to the rural poor and we have joined with hundreds of small national and international groups who believe it is time to stop saying we will someday get to these hidden hurting. We want to go to them now! Because we are a flat organization of volunteers over 80% of all we get for projects goes directly to this field.
We are grassroots in that we are open ended and seek to empower local aid organizations, institutions, churches and community leaders with knowledge we gleaned from all over the world. We have packaged this Knowledge Transfer to teach the poor how to fish, not just to give them a fish. But if they are hungry, we will give them a fish also!!! Our concept is called Transformational Community Development (TCD).
We are a catalyst in that we seek to help others start TCD which leads to sustainable, healthy families and villages. Our goal is not to control our clients but to empower them freely and with humility. We eagerly look to help other groups do the same. We have learned that we can’t change the whole world in a day. But we can change the world one person, one village at a time. My humble desire is to challenge you to become a part of our Online Village so we can connect you to a village of the poorest of the poor. Please don’t wait, act now.
