Kenya: Bulesa Dima
As our pilot Kenyan village, Gambella, experienced dramatic transformation, other villages in the area began asking for our coaching. Bulesa Dima is one of them. We said “yes” to the leaders of Bulesa Dima at the beginning of 2011.
Bulesa Dima is a village of about 1,000 Borana people near the town of Isiolo, and is mostly a farming area. But farming is becoming increasingly difficult with the ever-growing draught in this part of Africa. So we intend to introduce more efficient methods of irrigation and fertilization.
Bulesa Dima has many other needs as well — no electricity, the people eat one meal per day at best, the nearest water is a cloudy stream about 5km away, and infant & maternal mortality is high. We are hopeful that with our Transformational Community Development program we can help Bulesa Dima overcome their severe poverty in the next several years.
