Renuka* is from a family of five and worked as a laborer for hire. Her income was very low, and her family suffered from financial problems. Her previous income was not enough for food. When Transformational Community Development (TCD) classes were conducted in our village, she joined the class. She gained a lot of knowledge and learned how to change her family’s financial situation. In the beginning, GHNI provided seed money, and she bought a goat. Now she is able to buy a cow with the income. After taking out a TCD loan, she rented five acres and began farming. Now she does not have to worry about daily food. As soon as she adopted the knowledge from TCD class, there was a change in her family. She is so thankful to GHNI.
Since many in our community work as laborers, they stay in temporary houses according to the season, and sometimes they travel to other places for work. I go and teach from house to house, according to their schedule. This month, six members were taught about drinking enough water. If the body gets plenty of water, it will have the ability to fight disease. It is a hot season, and you have to drink plenty of water. I taught about drinking plenty of water and making sure it was safe and clean.
This month, members of the wellness committee were taught about the types of germs that make us ill. Because of the polluted environment and hot winds, many children have diarrhea and fever. Four women and seven children were taught how germs enter the body.
I met with the parents and encouraged them to have their children study during the vacation time. In our community, at least two children have a target of passing class 10, so I have focused more on the children’s follow-up this month and helping them study.
Thank you!
