Educating a girl is like sowing the seed, which gives rise to a revitalized, cheerful, and full-grown family plant. Our Transformational Community Development (TCD) trainings have taught girls to realize their full potential—to think, question, and judge independently. The TCD lessons on education have encouraged Gem villagers to see the importance of educating their girls. I taught the members of the Gem community about the socio-economic impact of educating girls. There was practically no education for girls in Gem because they believed girls were to be married off at a young age.

Lindi is a thirteen-year-old girl from Gem Village. She is the only girl from a very poor family of seven. She completed her primary school at Emejen Primary School and was looking forward to joining secondary school. The dream to join secondary school was cut short by poverty, and her family opted for her to be married. After the parents joined our TCD training, their perspective on educating a girl child completely shifted. They have since enrolled their daughter in secondary school, and they are now boldly and courageously teaching other Gem villagers the importance of educating their daughters. Thanks to TCD training, girls in Gem now have the chance to make dreams come true.
