When children are listened to with respect and true care, heart changes are entirely possible.
In the village of Taha, eleven-year-old Samer lived like a shadow—present, yet unseen. His family’s small, worn-down house barely held them together, and constant arguments with his parents and brothers left him adrift. His clothes were always dirty, a cigarette dangled carelessly from his small fingers, and harsh words slipped from his mouth without thought. Anger filled his young heart, and the streets became his refuge. There, he fell in with bad company—friends who only pulled him further into trouble.
One day, a supervisor from the Transformational Community Development (TCD) group knocked on Samer’s door. He didn’t scold or shout. Instead, he sat beside Samer, listened quietly, and told him about a different place—a place where children could play, learn, and laugh freely. It sounded strange to Samer, but for the first time, he felt truly seen. With hesitant steps, Samer followed the supervisor to this new place. Among kind children and a safe atmosphere, something began to change. Slowly, he put out his last cigarette, learned to smile without fear, and began choosing his words with care.
Today, if you walk through the village of Taha, you might see Samer—well-dressed, warm-hearted, and surrounded by new friends. Once a boy on the edge of being lost, he was guided by a steady, unseen hand toward a new life filled with hope.
Asma, a 40-year-old woman from Shosha Village, is a true role model of diligence and perseverance. She began sewing and quickly built a strong reputation among her neighbors and friends. With her skilled hands, she crafted bed linens, bedspreads, and other household items that helped make houses feel like a home.
Despite life’s hardships, Asma has never neglected her role as both a mother and a wife. She is the mother of five children whose educational stages range from elementary school to university. She dedicates herself to their comfort and works tirelessly to provide them with a decent life and a quality education.
Alongside her many responsibilities, Asma has always been a steadfast supporter of her husband. She stands with him through every challenge and even shares in covering financial expenses. She never waited for support; she became the support. Asma is not only a skilled seamstress but also a strong, hardworking, and determined woman. She has refused to let circumstances defeat her, instead using them as motivation to move forward. Her journey is an inspiring example for every woman striving to build a better future for herself and her family.
