Batemone Village is on its way to sustainable development! An indicator of this is that Transformational Community Development (TCD) committees are active and able to chart the course for the community’s development journey in each of the five areas of TCD. Sayi, the TCD worker in Batemone Village, recently facilitated a meeting of the Water Committee, where they discussed how to increase hygiene, both personal and environmental, through proper utilization of the clean water from the borehole in the village. The highlight of the meeting was the unanimous decision of the committee to get each family in the village to contribute 1000 CFA monthly to a common purse that will be kept solely for purposes of maintenance of the pump and regular clean-up of the environment where the borehole is located. The villagers, having made an assessment of the transformation that has happened to them since they got clean water after decades of suffering from a lack of it, are more than happy to make this monthly contribution.
Thank you!
