Diversification Leads to Drought Resistance
September 1, 2022
The drought that occurred around Borena was severe. So many animals died and the community suffered economically. The animals were the majority of the community’s sole source of income. The Transformational Community Development (TCD) members in Didi Hara Village were among those affected by the drought, but their situation was not the same as other communities. They had attempted to diversify their activities prior to the drought, and this has given the members options. The Agriculture Group works to grow various vegetables using the collected pond water, and the Income Generation Group brings food from other areas and sells it in the village.
Thank you!
