Ian hit shores as CAT 4, bringing catastrophic damage, knocking out power with record breaking rainfall, and causing massive flooding!
September 29, 2022
Hurricane Ian made landfall on the gulf side of Florida Thursday morning as a catastrophic Category 4 hurricane, with winds at 155 miles per hour with an 18-foot storm surge and numerous airport closures.
Last night and today, it is hovering over the middle of Florida and our US Resource Office in Orlando. Our resource staff and a host of our volunteers have been severely impacted, and most are without power, trying to stay safe during the extreme winds and massive rainfall brought to shore.
Would you join us in supporting our team and volunteers trying to hold on during this time?
Staff families and volunteers have been evacuated and displaced. They’ve lost power and the hurricane continues dropping torrential amounts of rain across mid Florida, with a long weekend ahead.
