Healthy Transformation
March 30, 2023
Salama is 49 years old and part of the second group of households working together to gather funds to build toilets in the Polewali Transformational Community Development (TCD) village. Salama resides with her husband, two in-laws, five children, and four grandchildren. At first, when the village TCD committee invited the community to join the project to build toilets, Salama wasn’t very interested. She had lived her whole life without a bathroom and didn’t see the need for a change. Her children and grandchildren, however, had a different opinion on the matter. Through the partnership with GHNI, many in the community have gained access to clean water and become aware that they can now address shortcomings in health and hygiene. Salama and her family have gathered funds and will soon become the eighth household in the village to have a bathroom. Step by step, the Polewali community is navigating the path toward transformation.
Thank you,
