Excitement for Water Filtration Construction
February 7, 2024
The community is prepared to begin the Transformational Community Development (TCD) Income Generation Program after the New Year holiday. Subsidies and partnerships will be provided for 24 families to begin raising ducks, contingent on each family fulfilling their personal financial and material commitments.
Fifteen Mawa families are preparing funds and materials to construct water filtration systems, as learned from the GHNI/ECHO training held in the summer of 2023.
There is also some progress with raising pigs that appear to be immune to or safe from the African Swine Virus.
Transformational Community Development (TCD) Update

Water
The Water Program continues to run well. The next step is to apply what the community has learned from GHNI/ECHO to construct village-appropriate systems to make water safe for drinking. Fifteen families are preparing to participate.

Income Generation
The duck program is in preparation. Families still struggle to plan financially and follow a budget. The training team is working with them on this. The committee has decided to tentatively launch in January 2024.
Thank you!
