Micro-Shop, Macro Gains
July 15, 2024
The Transformational Community Development (TCD) team conducted classes for those community members who were not able to raise their family income yet. They had an interest in raising family income sources, but because of a lack of knowledge and ideas, they had not progressed. Through the TCD teachings of Income Generation and self-sustainability, their old perceptions have changed. Many of the participants were discouraged by their poor living conditions, lack of resources, and unsuccessfulness. They had totally lost hope for the future, but after the TCD teaching, many of them gave positive responses. They started to think positively about their future, and they decided to do something for their Income Generation.
As the TCD team taught about goat and hen keeping, community members planned to start these endeavors soon. Two of the TCD class participants, Chaheti* and Devabrata*, were very inspired by the classes on Income Generation. I taught community members to find local resources that are suitable and available to help the community be sustainable. TCD teaches ownership of the community, and participants acknowledge they are actively participating in the TCD movement. The TCD committee is also actively working, volunteering, and helping TCD go ahead effectively. TCD teaching is very powerful; it changes the lives of the people in the community.
Anjana* is from Ramantar Village. She lives with her husband and two sons. She was very weak in terms of financial status because she had no income sources before she joined TCD. Her husband was a laborer, and all the family expenses depended on him alone. It was very difficult to manage the family’s expenses. They were also living in a rental. They had no land of their own, so it was very difficult for them. She started a microshop with the teaching and help of TCD. When Anjana* began her microshop, she earned well and improved her family’s financial status. She and her husband worked hard to raise their family income source, and they became successful with the help of the TCD program. They saved money from their income and finally became able to buy land for housing. They have a plan to make a small house and live happily in their own home. Anjana’s* microshop is still profitable and brings in a good income. Her children go to school and have the meals they need. Anjana* and her family are very happy with the TCD program and want to give a lot of thanks to GHNI.
Thank you!
