Welcoming a Change of Heart
July 15, 2024

The Transformational Community Development (TCD) program continues. During a visit to project participant Umm Jumana’s home, she said, “I was very sad and bitter because my husband is an addict. I tried many things to help him give up his addiction, but to no avail. I convinced him to go to an addiction treatment facility, so he went, and my daughters and I were left alone under these difficult circumstances. I began to feel an explosion in my emotions, which led to quarrels with my children. I also began to feel physical pain. This had an impact on my health, and I felt like a failure in my life. I surrendered to my anger, and I was bitter with myself. However, after I heard the TCD lesson about bitterness, my thoughts began to change, and I began to welcome something new into my life. I began to realize that my circumstances were difficult, but I needed to let go. My husband is now home until he heals. I have begun to calm down and be filled with peace, even with the pressures I am going through. I deal with my children calmly. I talked to a friend of mine and told her about what was inside me. I practice sports and replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts about my life. I fill myself with reassurance and peace.”
Martin, one of the children participating in lessons, said, “The most important time for me is the time I spend in the TCD class. I have learned to wear clean clothes, eat healthy food, love all people, be obedient to my father and mother, serve them, and share lessons with my friends.” Martin’s mother affirmed this, saying, “After attending TCD classes, Martin has become obedient and helps me with household purchases. He also takes care of his appearance and studies. I want to thank you for the wonderful change. My son deserves the ideal child award.”
Thank you,
