No Longer Relying on Outside Help
August 27, 2024
A handful of families from the Mawa community have taken the lead in pioneering the business of raising and selling ducks. Initially, due to the extreme need for a source of income in Mawa, it was necessary for GHNI to subsidize the purchase of chicks to be raised in facilities prepared by the community. This has gone reasonably well for the first participating families, so additional families are seeking to join. However, the price of chicks has gone up and supply has gone down, making it difficult to expand the program.
Finally, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) village committee decided to invest in incubation equipment to hatch their own chicks. Rather than relying on and waiting for outside resources, they took matters into their own hands, showing initiative and care for others to be involved. Their TCD mindset is showing!
Thank you,
