Graduated Village Looks to the Future
Armed with Hope and Training, villagers take their future in their own hands.
The Transformational Community Development (TCD) project in Mawa comes to a close after several years of the GHNI team helping the community to understand the TCD principles of pulling themselves out of poverty. The village still has a ways to go and the work is not over. It is now time for the Mawa people to step out and continue to transform their lives on their own.
Several active TCD participants are asking what will happen once they become independent. They understand that it will be different, given their long-standing partnership and strong relationship with the GHNI mentoring team who have been walking with them through each initiative. They have experienced true benefits from the TCD program, and in a recent village committee meeting, they ultimately expressed that they needed to embrace the goal of independence, fostering maturity and responsibility within the community to sustainably continue the TCD program on their own, equipped with a new mindset of hope. They are aware now that their future is in their own hands, and as they press forward toward their goals, anything is possible.
Thank you,
