A New Use For His Hands

Fadi found a new use for the hands that once belonged to a thief.

Fadi found a new use for the hands that once belonged to a thief. - A New Use For His Hands

Fadi is a young boy from the village of Taha. He grew up in a family struggling with/under extreme poverty. His parents were so consumed with the daily battle to put food on the table that Fadi was completely neglected, especially when it came to his education. Instead of going to school, he spent his days on the streets. Driven by hunger and a lack of attention at home, Fadi unfortunately started stealing from neighbors. Before long, the community viewed him as a hopeless troublemaker.

Everything began to change when Fadi started attending our Transformational Community Development (TCD) classes. Our local leaders didn’t judge him or treat him like a criminal. Instead, they took the time to understand his situation and gave him the personal attention he had been missing. Through the educational lessons and workshops, Fadi learned about integrity and realized that stealing wasn’t the answer to his problems.

During our recreational activities, the TCD leaders noticed that Fadi had an incredible natural talent for football. We channeled his energy into the sport, and with consistent support and mentoring, Fadi didn’t just improve his behavior—he became the captain of the local team.

In a recent regional championship, Fadi led his team to a first-place victory. Holding the trophy, he was incredibly moved, realizing the community now saw him as a leader rather than a thief. He told us, “TCD taught me that the hand I used to steal was actually meant to lift trophies.”

Today, Fadi’s life looks completely different. He is back in school and focused on his studies. His parents are proud of him instead of seeing him as a burden, and the people of Taha now respect him as a talented, hardworking boy who overcame his circumstances.
