As part of community development and transformation efforts for Sudanese refugees in Ezbet El Haggana, 10 community leaders were trained in the Transformational Community Development (TCD) program to build their capacities and encourage them to lead community initiatives within their community. After the training, participants expressed their happiness with the knowledge they gained, especially the importance of prevention being better than a cure, relying on available resources, and identifying and utilizing local resources, as well as the concept of multiplication and sharing knowledge with others.

The leaders decided to begin facilitating TCD classes for three groups within their community: children, women, and youth. The first session was successfully launched last Thursday. Community leaders were also elected, and committees were formed, including a Children’s Committee, a Women’s Committee, and a Youth Committee from the Sudanese community. It was agreed that these meetings would continue on a weekly basis every Thursday in Ezbet El Haggana, Cairo.
