Diversifying Lifestyles through Agriculture
August 15, 2022
Transformational Community Development (TCD) is amazing in Didi Hara Village. The people in this region had no farming experience prior to the start of TCD. TCD in Borena was conceived with the intention of diversifying villagers’ lifestyles. Many of the villagers’ livestock perished as a result of a drought. It was difficult to observe this because they had nothing without their animals. They were anticipating outside help and have become agriculture specialists. The Agricultural Committee and other locals now grow a variety of vegetables and fruits for sale. They also grow a variety of vegetables for their own enjoyment. Because of this circumstance, the villages are economically capable.
The drought has affected Didi Hara. We are also assisting a few families with funds provided by the GHNI Disaster Response Team. The issue is straightforward. More assistance is required to address the community.
Transformational Community Development (TCD) Update
Water
This month had a short rain season in the Borena region. The Water Committee recruited organisations and locals last month to create pipes to catch water. This will aid them with irrigation and drinking water.
Food
Collecting the rain water using pipes will help irrigate the growing vegetables and provide drinking water.
Wellness
The Wellness Committee is collaborating with the village chief to inform the community how to protect themselves from the COVID-19 epidemic. In the public area, they provide handwashing.
Education
Due to security concerns, several of the youngsters were away from school. The Education Committee was attempting to persuade parents to enrol their children in school.
Income Generation
The Income Generation Committee is hard at work, and their company activity is expanding. They attended training last month on how to save money and build their business.
Thank you!
