A Helpful and Hopeful Education
September 8, 2022
The education being provided for young children all around the world is vital for the future generations to come. Every child born needs to be educated in order to achieve their career dream of shaping the future. What parent would like their children to receive an education from teachers that are not very educated themselves? Sadly, that is exactly what is going on in schools all around Africa and many other underdeveloped countries. In Gem Village, the community feels that their children deserve the right to a quality education just as everyone else is receiving in numerous places around the nation.
Education for our children began as a tool to prepare the future generations to take their places in their respective societies as professionals who will change their respective villages for good. Boniface was a young man with dreams of reaching far, maybe even becoming a doctor to serve his community. Unfortunately, being an orphan crippled his dream. Instead, after he left grade nine due to school fees, he became a goat shepherd in exchange for daily meals for both him and his brother. Because of this, he questioned if he would ever reach his dream or if he would remain with the goats in the bush?
His life turned upside down when the news of Boniface’s shunted dreams was heard by GHNI’s Kenya team, who took the initiative to return him back to school through our village’s Transformational Community Development (TCD) programme. Later, they helped him through his college as a teacher, which was much better than becoming a shepherd. 17th July was a celebration date, as the village gathered to both welcome him for his success, and show appreciation for GHNI giving Help and Hope, as usual.
Thank you!
