Walking Difficult Roads
September 30, 2022
We continued to introduce the Transformational Community Development (TCD) programme in Ezbit El Nakhl, Cairo. Donia, a little girl, participated in the programme and said, “Last year, I was on the road with my friends to go to school, and suddenly a speeding car came and hit me, and I fell and hurt my hands. Last week, I took a lesson about the dangers of the road and how to return to it without accidents. I learnt that I have to look right and left to make sure that the road is clear of cars before I leave. My sister, Nadia, could not attend the lesson with me. After I went home, I explained the lesson to her and drew the dangers of the road on paper, sharing it with her. I also shared the lesson with five of my friends, and it took my mind off the dangers of the road.”
TCD lessons are among the most important educational lessons because they are constructive, changing thoughts and behaviour within society. After we presented a lesson on the effective method of rearing children and how to deal with them, after about 15 days, Aliya, with her daughter Yasmine, came to tell me about the change that began in their relationship with each other. Aliya would insult her daughter all the time and always compare her to her friends who were better behaved than she was. This was the way Aliya believed was right to motivate Yasmine and help her to remain better than the ones she was compared with. Mother and daughter began walking together through the change in their relationship, and Yasmine started relating to her mother and telling her about her day after she came back from school. Aliya said that this had not happened for a long time, but it was a good change in treatment after she changed the way she dealt with her daughter.
Thank you,
