Finding Reconciliation at Seaside
November 1, 2022
Our Transformational Community Development (TCD) work with women in Smyrna shows its effect in many different aspects. We draw the attention of business people, local administrators, and other non-governmental organisations working with women in İzmir. All of them want to cooperate with us and admire our model of activities. This effect is quite promising.
However, the activity that makes us most happy is that we are able to establish peace between mothers and children. This particularly with teenage children who did not want to participate in any activities with their mothers. Some were constantly complaining and restless. There was endless conflict between them and their mothers. Now, we can happily state that this has been decreasing in recent years.
This month, we organised an outing to the seaside with the women and children of the group. Teenagers participated in the seaside event and they were very happy. The mothers were so inexperienced and timid at the sea. This situation caused the teenage children to empathise with their mothers. They helped their mothers feel comfortable in the water. They were so supportive. They had the opportunity to express their love for their mothers. I can think of no greater joy than to have made peace between a mother and her child.
Thank you!
