Armenia Mother Inspires Us!
December 2, 2022
Lilit is 34 and a mother of 6 children. Her husband, Gagik, is disabled. When he was younger, he lost his fingers while working in construction. The family lives in a small, partially destroyed house in the forest near the village. The ceiling of the house is falling down. When we visited, Lilit would instinctively sit leaning on the wooden stick. At first, it seemed weird, but later we understood that she automatically tried to protect the children just in case the ceiling fell.
In Armenia, we have a saying, “the woman is a pillar of the family.” By leaning against the pillar holding her ceiling, Lilit is perfectly illustrating it. Her life is difficult, but this amazing woman did not complain. She only expressed her gratitude for what she had.
With the help of GHNI, we gave Lilit a food box for her and her family. It will help provide for them while preparing for the colder season. After visiting them, we met with the Transformational Community Development (TCD) committee and agreed to come together as a community to fix her house before winter, especially the ceiling. When the mayor heard of this plan, he initiated help by way of transportation.
Thank you!
