Preventative Education
December 27, 2022
I visited Kibera Slum and met young children who have recently joined pre-primary at Kibera nursery school. These teachers will nurture the younger generation and help them become more responsible individuals in society. The Transformation Community Development (TCD) program has valuable lessons regarding Wellness, focusing on hygiene. I spent some time with the children, teaching them how to find clean places in the slum area because most of the places in the slum are littered with waste and an open sewerage line. Sometimes, children play in those areas and touch those dirty areas. They end up touching their mouths and becoming ill as a result. After I gave them these lessons, I have seen improvement in their behavior and now see them making healthier choices.
Thank you!
