Uniting Villages Through Valuing Each Other
July 21, 2023
Update from Kenzhebek
I visited the village to talk about Transformational Community Development (TCD), and spoke about ditch digging and repairing the water ditch with the head of the water supply system. Someone said, “When we stop irrigating in the fall, then we can talk to people and get to work.” Some of the villagers are not interested in this business, but the majority liked this idea. We plan to start work in mid-September, when the irrigation will be closed and the fields will be free, so that we can work without obstacles.
Update from Raisa
There was a meeting recently with women from my village. For the first time in the history of the village, an electronic invitation was sent out, which created interest for the women to come to this meeting. It was held as a training about “valuing yourself,” especially loving yourself and taking care of your mental health. The topic was reinforced with homework: to write their desires, and from these desires to make goals and think through the first steps to these goals. The participants spent time alone so that they could look at their inner world and what was going on there without distractions. One tool used to focus was art therapy. At the end of the time together, a link to an evaluation sheet was sent so we could evaluate the meeting.
