Loan Program Benefits 150+ People
October 17, 2023
It has been tough to make a living in Myanmar since the pandemic and military coup. The community we worked with suffered the impacts of the events over the past three years. But the Yone Taw villagers were positive about their future after the Transformational Community Development (TCD) training in the village. The villagers worked in unity to overcome their common challenges. For instance, they worked together to pave the village main road and cleaned their environment on a regular basis. They also formed committees to identify the community needs and looked for solutions for Education and Wellness.
The situation changed, especially related to the political issues in the areas. Our champion was engaged in bringing help and hope to her community in one of the most challenging times even though TCD staff were restricted to access the community for security reasons. She managed to bring help to more than 30 families in the village in their difficult time and provided more sustainable livelihood opportunities to more than 25 households so that they could generate Income for their family members.
The loan program is benefitting more than 150 people in the village. One of the beneficiaries said, “The loan eases our struggle for family livelihood. We now have work that generates income for the family. We made only a little progress and profit due to the high inflation rate, but it has been very helpful.” The beneficiaries are working hard to make their businesses successful regardless of the challenges they are facing such as the increasing cost of goods and security.
Thank you,

We believe in a “pull, not a push.” In order for us to work with a village, the community needs to want to be trained in how to transform their village.
