A Community Working Together to Rebuild
January 18, 2024

Gem is a village that mainly consists of pastoralists, with their main source of income being livestock. They moved around in search of pastures during the drought season, but when the drought came, all their livestock died, and they had no source of income. So those of us from the Transformational Community Development (TCD) program gathered the Gem community and taught them about soft loans and savings and ways to earn a living besides keeping cattle. Mama Erupe is one of the beneficiaries. She took out a loan and started a business, which has really changed her life. She is now able to pay school fees for her children and provide food for them. She is grateful to GHNI for teaching them alternative methods of earning a living.
Thank you!
