Herdsman to Farmer for Sustainability

Attir village is a village located 30 km away from Isiolo town. The village is mainly inhabited by pastoralists. Since the drought hit the country the whole village was hit hard and they all lost their herds. Through all this they all went through an economic crisis and that’s where we came in as Transformational Community Development (TCD) volunteers and held a meeting with the villagers and taught them the importance of farming.
Moses is one of the villagers who attended the training and during this El Nino season he started farming. He has two acres of land in which he has planted maize and beans and he is expecting a very good harvest. He is now enjoying farming more than livestock keeping. He is very grateful to GHNI for their support throughout the whole process.

Food
We’ve been going to the neighborhood and creating awareness of the importance of growing food and giving seedlings. We taught different farming methods.
Thank you!
