TCD Potential in the Next Generation
February 7, 2024
This quarter, our team tried to communicate more about our Transformational Community Development (TCD) program. We had the opportunity to do a workshop in a camp event for the community. This workshop is very exciting because most of the participants are members of ethnic groups who want to learn development to be used in their communities. This workshop allows them to get to know us and help us to know communities that need more community development as well.
We also got to explore the Chiang Mai community city and areas closer to the city. Development is not only needed in the countryside; some places in cities also need development, like the Chiang Mai Train Station Community. We walked around and talked with their residents. There are problems in the community here, and they need development for better living conditions. Another 30 minutes from Chiang Mai city, the Mae Taeng District is also in need. There are Lahu villagers who also want development in their communities. We went to talk and survey the community and introduced our program to them. They are interested in TCD community development. We look forward to helping these communities we explored.
Our team had the opportunity to have training with youth from BEAM Foundation. They learned in our community development classroom. When the journey of learning development came to an end, we took them on a farm tour and learned about agricultural work at the ECHO Thailand Foundation. We believe that this group of youths have potential. They have a wide range of abilities and leadership skills. We believe that learning about development not only helps people understand community development, but it also helps them develop themselves.
Transformational Community Development (TCD) Update
Education
At the BEAM foundation, we had the opportunity to teach their students. They studied with us for three months and, this December, many of them have graduated. In the last meeting, we took them on a field trip to Echo Farm. They met professional farmers and experts in farming. They learned about farming and did it.
Thank you!
