Educating Women Impacts the World
March 17, 2024

Women are the predominant gender in the world today, but the majority of them are left behind in terms of education. In Attir Village, most of the population is of the Turkana people group, and according to their traditions, a girl child is not supposed to be educated. As soon as she reaches her teenage years, she is set to get married. As soon as we entered Attir Village, we worked on helping the community understand the importance of educating their girls. We have also taught them to respect women and empower them to have a voice because, in that community, women are not allowed to speak before men.
Diana is one of the beneficiaries of our coaching sessions. We have taken her through secondary school, and she now attends college with the support of the Transformational Community Development (TCD) program. Antonnella is also another woman whom we have taken through the tailoring school in our empowerment centers. She now has her own tailoring business thanks to the lessons directing the community to support and encourage education for women.
Thank you!
