Pressing Physical and Emotional Needs
May 6, 2024
We continued Transformational Community Development (TCD) lessons with the community women, and the topic of the lesson was personnel attrition and what factors lead to it. Umm Abanoub, a mother of four children, said that the pressures and needs of the home are too many. She said, “My life is consumed with raising children, the absence of a father who does not care, weak relationships with others, and my physical energy and health are drained. After discussing this lesson in the women’s group, I learned to distribute responsibilities and roles in the home. I decided to visit my relatives and also spend time practicing my talents. I also decided to say no to those who take away my energy.“
Karas explained that one of the lessons presented at the TCD meeting was how to protect herself from all the harmful things around her, such as dirt, unclean air, smoking, and harmful media. She said, “I am at home, and my father is smoking cigarettes, and they smell very bad. After listening to the lesson, I decided to tell Baba that cigarettes are harmful to our health and to our bodies, and that I must protect myself from any smell of smoking because it harms our souls and health. I told him he could smoke it outside the house or try to stop smoking for his health and for ours as well.”
