A Growing Peace
July 15, 2024

This month, 50 bags of food and 50 chickens were distributed to 50 poor families in Ezbet El Nakhl. Amal Nadi is the mother of four children, and her husband has heart problems. She had to work in her husband’s place, collecting and sorting garbage. In light of the country’s economic conditions, work stopped about two months ago. When one of the bags of food was presented to her, she was very happy. She said, “What was distributed is a simple thing, but it makes a huge difference to my family. Truly, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) women’s group is a wonderful place to share with each other.”
Recently, we ran a special campaign asking children to reject violence occurring in society, especially in their homes. During the lesson, siblings Cyril, Julia, and Jumana participated. Cyril said, “My sisters and I entered a challenge a week ago to live in peace, love, and to help each other. We also agreed to share any biscuits or chocolate with each other. This is because of the lessons I learned this month. I learned to love. My sisters and I have learned not to be greedy, and I have learned to cooperate.”
Jumana joined in and said, “My brother plays with the mobile phone alone, and this annoys me. I felt annoyed, and I cursed at him while he hit me. But after we learned and understood the consequences of violence and lack of love, we entered a challenge for a week in which we cooperated, helped each other, loved each other, and stopped teasing each other. I bought chocolate from my pocket money and divided it with my sisters, and they gave me chips and biscuits.”
Julia said, “My mother is happy with us and stopped hitting us. We will continue to love each other. In the future, we will live in peace without problems or quarrels.”
Thank you,
