Quietly Working Towards a Brighter Future
July 15, 2024
This month, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) training team sat down with Husni to catch up on how social interaction in the Polewali Villages has been improving. Since the beginning of the TCD project, segmentation and division in the community have been ongoing issues. Through the work of key people in the village like Husni, community members have become more accustomed to meeting with each other and sharing their ideas. Over the last several years, patterns of social interaction have changed, as evidenced by several individuals who were initially closed off to participating in the TCD program are now becoming active.
Husni lives in a small segment of Polewali Village, which is known for being small and isolated, with residents generally keeping to themselves. Last year, however, Husni became inspired to join TCD training activities taking place in another village cluster. Previously known as a quiet person who did not involve herself in village activities, Husni has now opened up and joined an Income Generation group that fashions various pots out of clay to be sold at the market. She reported that she is very happy to have joined in these activities. She hopes that this can continue to have a positive impact on her family’s economic situation, while the TCD training team hopes that her neighbors will follow the example that she has set.
Thank you to all who support the TCD program in Polewali, and may it continue to impact lives in the community.
Thank you,
