This month, Ram* got seed money. He had joined TCD classes two years ago and was involved in TCD activities. He runs an ornament-making job at his own home. He had a lack of money to purchase raw materials to make duplicate ornaments. After getting seed money, he was happy. We hope for his success in Income Generation. And I would like to thank GHNI, partners, and donors for the help of the community.
“Kopisha* shares with tears in her eyes saying that, “It was my dream that one day I would have eaten till my stomach was full of food; and I wanted my son and daughter to go to school. Today these things have been fulfilled in my life. TCD has given me great happiness.” This is a statement given by one of the community members when I followed up for the Transformational Community Development (TCD) work this month. She and her husband became successful in raising their family incomes from the TCD project. From the beginning of the TCD project, they have been actively participating in TCD’s activities. They had no food for the family except six months of the year. They had to do hard labor. Sometimes, they didn’t have work to do; the whole family had to fill up their stomachs with water. Kopisha shared with me that she and her husband spent one week without food. And remembering those days, tears were falling from her eyes. But now, she said, she has no tension for food or clothing and her children are admitted to school.
I followed up and taught about the nutritional food, vitamin, protein, and balanced diet that children and pregnant women need to eat. I followed up with the community and measured for malnutrition. There is no malnutrition found among the community children. I taught community members about goat keeping and goats’ safety during the rainy season. In the rainy season, they need special care and feeding. By this teaching the villagers understood about goat keeping and caring. It will help them to be successful in Income Generation. Because of the flood, the community drinking water pipeline was destroyed. By the TCD Water Committee’s initiative, community members repaired the pipeline and made water available to the community. The community themselves is active in solving water problems, and TCD is guiding them.
Thank you!
