Let the Calm Prevail
A mother and son’s relationship is restored when tempers are held and responses are calm.
Mrs. Umm Ashraf was known among her neighbors for her high voice and quick temper. The littlest thing could set her off, whether it was her family or her neighbors. Even her son Ashraf, who loved spending time with her, began to avoid talking to her for fear of hearing hurtful words or finding himself in an unnecessary argument.
Mrs. Umm Ashraf began attending the Transformational Community Development (TCD) group. Following the lessons that dealt with the topics of calmness, wisdom in responding, and how to deal with others, Ms. Umm Ashraf began to realize the impact of her temper on those around her and that it was the reason for the tension with her family and with friends.
The saying “Be angry, but do not do wrong,” had a special effect on changing her thoughts and behaviors. As she learned how to control her reactions and stay calm, over time, the way she talked with others changed, becoming calmer and more balanced, which reflected positively on her relationship with her family members and neighbors.
Thank you,
