New Water Pump Saving Lives
October 9, 2022
The Health and Water Committees, as part of Transformational Community Development (TCD) in Batemone, held meetings. The Water Committee gave feedback about how the new water pump has benefitted the entire community. Before the provision of potable water, many children would fall ill. Usually the onset of the rainy season brings water related infections, but this season has been different with no recorded case of such avoidable illnesses! The Water Committee also agreed on modalities to maintain the pump.
At the Health Committee meeting, it was agreed that the ventilated improved pit (VIP) latrine will be dug after the planting season when the ground has softened. They also agreed to raise funds to purchase materials for the building and may need some support in this regard. In the subsequent meeting, it is hoped to identify areas of support and the extent to which the resources raised by the locals and the committee will go.
Thank you!
