Reaching Refugees by Providing Mobility
October 31, 2022
We were glad to host our first short-term team since COVID-19. We were able to bring help and hope to the hidden and the hurting with the help of one of our partners who specialise in providing mobility to disabled people. We have distributed around 170 wheelchairs and a number of walkers during our 5 days in Zarqa and Mafraq. We had 70 volunteers, including translators, therapists, and receptionists, who received and warmly welcomed our recipients and their family members. This outreach covered all ages, both men and women, as we welcomed children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly.
Our team and volunteers would welcome and write down the recipient’s details for registration and documentation. Each therapist would receive a recipient to work closely with, fitting and customising the wheelchair accordingly. While the recipients waited for either their turn to speak with the therapist or sat in the station as the therapist and mechanic worked on their project, our volunteers were connecting and opening good conversations, bringing encouragement, perspective, and hope.
Thank you!
