Taking Ownership of Their Growth

In October, Paschal engaged the villagers to clean the surroundings of the ventilated improved pit (VIP) latrine and the borehole site. They were enthusiastic. Plans are also underway to set up the Transformational Community Development (TCD) Income Generation Committee. In addition, some women have indicated a desire for a Tailoring Center, so they can generate money for their livelihood.

In a bid to spread TCD, Paschal also visited Sohounta Village, which is about six kilometers from Arigbokoto Village. He engaged some villagers and taught a foundational TCD lesson on proper hand washing and hygiene. It is hoped that the work will be consolidated in subsequent months.

In November, the importance of keeping VIP latrines in the highest sanitary condition was reemphasized. It is very impressive to see locals take responsibility and at the same time own the projects established by TCD initiatives.

Some villagers also recounted the change in their lives prompted by potable water. One of them recalled how difficult it was to get clean water this time last year, but now their experience is different and the story has changed for the better. They look forward to more TCD projects such as a Health Center and Tailoring Center.

Thank you!
