Solving a Common Challenge
March 10, 2023

I visited the household of a member of the Ndovu Women Group. I learned she was struggling with a challenge that is common to most slum dwellers. Much of the sewage line was leaking, and as a result, it has become a habitat for flies. At some point, those same flies settle on food, water, and utensils, leaving germs. The result has been an outbreak of diseases like stomach pain and typhoid. After falling sick, community members end up visiting a local pharmacist looking for medicine and treatment. I discussed with her how she can clean her utensils by using soap and clean water, store items to keep them away from the flies, and cover the food pan to keep everything out. After she acted on my advice, her health and that of her immediate family started improving. She highly appreciated my advice.
Thank you!
