Entrepreneurial Spirit Grows in Armenia
March 30, 2023
We had a good first quarter of the year, beginning with joyous celebrations in our house for the holidays as we celebrate the New Year and Christmas in January! Then we started to work on Transformational Community Development (TCD) projects. We want to thank our Assistant Regional Field Leader Daniel for his supervision and help, as we have had many WhatsApp conversations recently.
A TCD training was held in the Jrashen community. The training went well with many discussions. We had breaks in between the sessions where the participants had an opportunity to exchange ideas with each other and work on common projects to generate income, build community, and meet other needs. We plan to continue these valuable courses!
It’s our pleasure to give you some updates on Lilit, a creative and industrious young woman. After a successful Christmas cookie project, she received an offer to make muffins for the cafe at Boo Mountain Bike Park. She started bringing them weekly deliveries. Lilit is hardworking and believes things can change for the better. She has some challenges though. She borrows a baking machine and, if she had her own, it would be so helpful! Would you consider buying her this machine, or at least doing a loan of a machine that would either cover part or all of the costs? Thanks very much!
We would also like to introduce you to Ariela, a young Iranian woman who moved to Armenia because of the situation in her homeland. It is hard to have a refugee’s life, but no matter the difficulties, Ariela is full of love, smiles, and has hope for a better future. She initiated a sewing project, which has grown into a micro business making hats and different accessories and presents them to local vendors for sale.
GHNI is grateful to be investing TCD into Lilit’s and Ariela’s lives to help them and many others!
Thank you!
