One Foot in Front of the Other… Literally
March 30, 2023
Aseer, a young man who lives in Apir Village, participated in a skills acquisition workshop that was held in November 2022. Moses, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) worker who regularly engages the community on Income Generation, organized the training out of concern for young adults who are unable to further their education beyond secondary school and have no employable or income generating skills, whatsoever. Aseer learnt shoe making, one of the skills taught at the workshop. With the little capital at his disposal, he was able to buy materials for shoe making. Since he has no equipment of his own, he reached out to a shoemaker in the community and negotiated for the use of his shop and equipment to make shoes whenever anyone placed an order.
Even though Aseer has had some income trickling in the past couple weeks, what he gets is too meager for the purchase of equipment. Moses is currently helping Aseer brainstorm how to raise capital for his new business and both are hopeful that their efforts will yield positive results in the coming weeks.
Thank you,
