Relief Amid Conclusion of Government Surveys
July 10, 2023

The Transformational Community Development (TCD) program had been stalled for about 18 months for two reasons – an insecurity challenge due to terrorist attacks in the country and government survey mapping that has been going on in the region. The government took charge of the entire Koubah Bingo area throughout the period of the survey, limiting the locals from free movement and use of space.
The government has finally concluded the exercise and have made fresh allocations of parcels of land, with the condition that the allottees apply to the government for certificates of occupancy after payment of the requisite fees. We are pleased that our TCD property has been freshly ‘allocated’ to us, relieving us of anxiety and uncertainty we experienced in the past months. We have made the application, paid the government fees, and are now waiting on the government for title documents.
In the meantime, Mainasara and Fatima, the TCD workers in Koubah Bingo, as well as other locals, are now organizing themselves and their spaces. They are looking forward to resuming the TCD program in Koubah Bingo starting with the establishment of a primary school, construction of a building for the women’s center, and a bridge that will allow access to the surrounding villages (particularly during the rains when Koubah Bingo is cut off).
Thank you!
