Expansion is a Reason to Celebrate!

During the month of October, I visited Chainpur Village’s Transformational Community Development (TCD) Income Generation members and noticed that they were multiplying their family income sources. This month, using seed money, one community member started to keep pigs, and another family expanded goat keeping.
I also visited community members to teach about Wellness. There have been many health problems, like colds and fevers, so I taught community members to take care of their personal sanitation, house cleaning, kitchen cleaning, and use of clean and pure water for cooking, drinking, and washing. I taught about first aid and when to go to the hospital.
Dashain, which is a great harvest festival in Nepal, is a time for family reunions, the exchange of gifts and blessings, and elaborate pujas (ceremonies). Dashain is a celebration time for the community, and community members used to spend a large amount of money in the name of the festival celebration, which went directly to the bank. As TCD is continually teaching community members to manage and minimize expenses according to income and capability, this month I taught all about managing resources, and we could see the positive impact of those TCD teachings. Community members applied what they learned and arranged their festival expenses by selling their hens, goats, and other animals. I also taught community members to celebrate peacefully, without getting drunk or fighting.
Thank you!
