School Can Be Challenging
December 19, 2023
In Isiolo County, there is a primary school located in Kiwanjani. The school has about 80 students and two teachers, but it has only one class. The school is currently facing a lot of challenges. It has no kitchen, the children’s meals are cooked outside, and they have no running water. Students going to that school come from very poor and vulnerable backgrounds that can barely afford food, uniforms, shoes, or even books.
We located two students from the school, Esther and Winner, who come from very humble homes. They were supposed to be in primary school but were still going to kindergarten due to a lack of uniforms, shoes, books, and other learning materials. We visited their homes, bought uniforms, bags, and shoes, and took them to Kiwanjani primary school. They are now settled in at school, and their families are very grateful to the Transformational Community Development (TCD) program and GHNI for changing their lives.
Thank you!
