Positive Encouragement for Positive Change
February 7, 2024

Through the Transformational Community Development (TCD) program, we presented lessons on positive speech. Umm Bashir participated and said, “My son is a young man who works all day long and is diligent in his work, but he comes home late because of staying up late with his friends. I was always saying negative things to him because of his delay in returning home, and my son was feeling small-minded, frustrated, and like a failure due to the negative words that I was saying to him. After what I learned at TCD, I say positive things to him and encourage him. He decided to come home early, right after work, and devote his vacation to meeting his friends. I learned to say positive words to him, better words that encourage him instead of discouraging him, and this helped him succeed and develop his self-confidence.”
Another participant, Barbara, said, “I used to always begrudge my family regarding food, drink, housing, and social status because we are poor. I did not like anything at home, but in the TCD group, I learned to be thankful for everything, to have a life of contentment, to be satisfied, and not complain about my family or whatever they offer me. I also learned that I must be content with the capabilities I have and my talents and be satisfied with how I was created.”
Thank you,
