Transformed from a Dropout to Owner
February 7, 2024
Gem Village is located on the outskirts of Isiolo town. The community of Gem Village is mainly composed of pastoralists and part of them are also farmers. Since GHNI started working in the community, there has been tremendous transformation in the village. They now have water to drink and farm so there is reduced cattle rustling in the village.
The committees meet regularly to assess the progress and needs of the community. We have also trained them on the importance of Education and even taken it upon ourselves to put some of the children through school.
One of the beneficiaries of Education in Gem Village is Akatorot. This year she was a primary school dropout and we took her to a tailoring school where she was taught tailoring and dressmaking. She has now graduated and has set up her own tailoring shop through the help of the volunteers of GHNI. She is very grateful to GHNI for putting her through school and changing her life.
Thank you!
