It’s Never Too Late to Learn
April 3, 2024
Maharael is in their fifth year of primary school and learned from the Transformational Community Development (TCD) lessons about the negatives and positives of mobile phones. She shared, “I used to use the mobile phone for a very long time, playing and sitting on the internet, and I was always complaining of headaches. When I learned the TCD lesson, I realized that it could cause headaches and weaken my vision, so I set a specific time during the day to play. Instead of sitting on it all the time, now I have time to study with my friends, but not on my mobile phone. I stayed engaged in my studies, and my headaches decreased a little. I taught my friend and her TCD group so that we could learn nice things together.
Maryam learned and studied to eradicate illiteracy. She is 46 years old and was deprived of an education when she was young, but with the encouragement of her children, she learned and continued until university. She is upset with her parents because they did not put her in school. When she found an opportunity to learn, she applied for it and obtained a literacy certificate. She does not want to stop at the certificate but wants to continue her studies. Maryam said, “I was an ordinary person, and when I used to go to any place. I did not know how to read or count money for vegetables. Now I know how to count money well, I know the hour, and I know how to read, as well.” She inspires those in her community to learn.
Thank you,
