Villagers Learn to Solve Their Own Problems
July 15, 2024
This month we moved forward with planning and the formation of a Village Committee. Ratchaboot Village now has seven Village Committee members! Our team plans to teach them to implement the project in the village as soon as possible. So that they will be able to solve the problem directly.
We have weekly meetings and we survey the living conditions of each home in the community. We gave them six liters of drinking water for their valuable time in completing the survey because their main problem is a lack of clean water. As a result, some children have diarrhea and villagers have health problems from not having enough clean water to use.
This month we are teaching people about solving their own problems. They discuss the problem and its roots. The villagers know their village really well. And when there’s a problem, they notice it. The community identified major roots for their water problem: lack of access to a nearby reservoir, low pumping capacity for their solar well on cloudy days, and low storage capacity in the community. During these meetings, we help them see the resources they have and think of creative solutions. We are excited to see what the village decides to do next!
Thank you!
