Brokering Peace
August 27, 2024
There is no denying the fact that development can only thrive when there is peace amongst the people. The primary school building expansion project, which was scheduled to commence after the rains, has been stalled because several different groups residing within the community have been arguing for several weeks now. Before the rains, the community molded bricks, dug the foundation, started the laying of bricks, and agreed to continue work once the rainy season ended. The education committee even arranged a work schedule to enable the different participating groups to take turns to work on the building project. Sadly, at the moment, all the plans are on hold, even though the situation will impact the village children for whom the school has offered opportunities for education.
Teti, one of our Transformational Community Development (TCD) workers, is preparing himself to facilitate community mediation talks within the shortest possible time frame. This is a “must-do” assignment for Teti because many more children were looking forward to enrolling for the new school year.
Thank you!
