Inner Strength Brings Positive Change

Om Ayman says she never imagined that her story would one day become a testimony to the kind of change that can happen when a community discovers its inner strength. She went through a difficult period after developing a persistent increase in lung fibrosis, which left her constantly exhausted and increasingly fearful about the future. Her days felt heavy, often filled with sadness and tears. She felt she was facing her pain alone.

Things began to change when women from her community participated in a Transformational Community Development (TCD) training. No one came with ready-made solutions; instead, the facilitators helped the community think differently—encouraging people to focus on what they already had rather than what they lacked. Over time, community members began to take initiative themselves, driven by a renewed sense of responsibility toward one another.

Om Ayman shared that the women started visiting her regularly, praying with her, and offering emotional and moral support. Her whole outlook on life has changed as she now feels like she is a part of the community. What happened was not an external program or temporary aid, but a genuine expression of TCD principles that empowered the community to lead change from within and to use their simple resources—relationships, time, and care—as real tools for making a difference.

As this support continued, her emotional well-being gradually improved, and she regained the ability to face each day with greater hope. She says the greatest transformation was not only in her health but also in her outlook on life. She realized she was not just a recipient of help but an active part of a community capable of healing and growing together.

Today, Om Ayman believes her story shows how TCD principles can transform pain into strength, isolation into supportive relationships, and fear into practical hope. Real change—she says—began when people believed they already had what they needed to make a difference in each other’s lives.
