One Teacher, 100 Students
August 27, 2024
This month, I focused on the area of education. Though there is a government-run primary school in Baromasia Village, the quality of education is low since one teacher has to teach more than one hundred students. During our Transformational Community Development (TCD) committee meeting, the villagers raised concern over this, resulting in quite a long meeting. Everyone had the opinion that there should be one private teacher who would focus on the children of Baromasia Village. The TCD committee approached me to find an educator who would be able to teach regularly. I talked to the villagers regarding the tuition fees so that the parents could know about the costs. All the villagers agreed to pay the tuition fees, and we were able to hire Arjit as a teacher. Now, most of the children go to the teaching center every day and are growing in learning.
From this small initiative, I could see that the villagers are working on community problems together. I am hoping that someday this village will be a completely self-sustaining community.
Thank you,
