Jini* is from a poor family background. She had no income and all day she stayed at home. The  family depended on her husband’s income for all their daily needs and expenses. Her husband is a day-labor worker, and it was very challenging for him to make enough for their needs. Many times they had to spend days without having lunch and dinner. They are squatters and they have no land for farming crops. They were totally dependent on daily labor work with no other income sources.

After the Transformation Community Development (TCD) program, Jini realized that she could contribute to the family income. She applied TCD’s teaching in her life and successfully started a micro-shop business with the support of TCD’s seed money. This business now provides her with a steady daily income. As a result, her family no longer struggles to meet basic needs such as food and education for her children. Jini feels happy and satisfied with her progress. She is now motivated to encourage other community women to participate in TCD activities and become self-sustainable and be supporters in raising their family’s income sources. Her story clearly shows that even a small amount of support through TCD can bring meaningful transformation in people’s lives. Many others in the community also have the potential to improve their livelihoods and achieve success through TCD lessons and programs. Thanks.
